UW Speech and Hearing using CONTENTdm to archive video and audio
The Speech and Hearing Sciences Department at the University of
Washington is using CONTENTdm to store and search an internal database
of speech video and audio clips. According to Patricia Dowden,
Clinical Assistant Professor, "The field of Speech-Language Pathology
has been constrained by the print medium, at least for mass
communication. We have been forced to convey multi-modal impairments
and intervention strategies through limited text descriptions. The
development of searchable audio-video archives that can be shared
nationally and internationally will have a revolutionary effect on
research, education and treatment in our field."
