DiMeMa, Inc. announces image viewing enhancements and JPEG2000 Extension for CONTENTdm
ORLANDO, Florida, June 24, 2004 --- DiMeMa Inc., creator of the leading digital collection management software, today announced the upcoming release of image viewing enhancements for CONTENTdm and a new product offering, the CONTENTdm JPEG2000 Extension.
Available July 30, 2004, the new image viewing enhancements will add zoom and pan capability to all image viewers. Whether accessing a single item, viewing a document through the compound object viewer, or using the slide show and compare view in a classroom setting, users will be able to manipulate images by zooming and panning. Activated through a standard toolbar, the zoom and pan feature offers end-users more control when viewing and examining images in CONTENTdm collections without the need for a browser plug-in.
DiMeMa will provide the zoom and pan enhancements free of charge to all CONTENTdm users with a current Annual Maintenance Agreement.

A standard JPEG image measuring 1704 x 2272 is shown using zoom and pan features.
CONTENTdm JPEG2000 Extension
The JPEG2000 Extension for CONTENTdm supports both the creation and display of JPEG2000 images. In the CONTENTdm workflow the JPEG2000 Extension enables collection builders to convert full resolution TIFF and JPEG files to JPEG2000 format during the import process. Existing JPEG2000 images can also be imported into CONTENTdm.
The CONTENTdm JPEG2000 Server supports dynamic decompression and display of JPEG2000 images for efficient viewing of large files without the need for browser plug-ins. Images are presented to users in a standard Web browser with zoom and pan toolbar features. Users benefit from higher quality, detailed images without spending a lot of time waiting for large images to be transmitted. JPEG2000 is ideal for image archives, maps, drawings, medical images, and other large image formats requiring high compression efficiency and image quality.

What is JPEG2000?
JPEG2000 is the latest in a series of standards from the JPEG committee. JPEG2000 provides exceptionally high quality images at low bit rates, overcoming many of the limitations of the original JPEG standard. For more information on JPEG2000, visit the Joint Photographic Experts Group.
New or existing users can purchase the JPEG2000 Extension for use with CONTENTdm. For pricing and distribution information, see the JPEG2000 Extension product information.
