The University of Washington announces CONTENT Software Suite for digital media management licensed to a new Seattle company, DiMeMa, Inc.
Software & Copyright Ventures and the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington are pleased to announce that the CONTENT Software Suite for digital media management has been licensed to a new Seattle company, DiMeMa, Inc. CONTENT has been developed over the past four years in the Department of Electrical Engineering's Center for Information Systems Optimization (CISO) Laboratory. CISO has worked closely with the University of Washington Libraries to enhance performance of the software.
"We anticipate that DiMeMa will be able to extend the software and develop new products based on the software while providing support for existing users of CONTENT, which will now be distributed as "CONTENTdm"."

DiMeMa, Inc. has provided this statement to Software & Copyright Ventures,
which we are making available to you:
The CONTENTdm Software Suite offers tools for the complete management of digital media collections - from entering descriptions of collection objects, managing and administering collections - to providing full Web access to the user community. CONTENTdm archives images and documents as well as audio and video files. It has additional features such as the "postcard"
option for storing and retrieving both sides of an object and the "picture cube" view for on-line display of sculptures or other three dimensional objects.
CONTENTdm is designed to be an easy to use but powerful cataloging and collection creation application. It is scalable from 10's of images up to millions. It is fast and can retrieve one item within a million in less than a second. CONTENTdm is built entirely on Web-based standards. Searching and administration are done through standard Web browsers. CONTENTdm supports
distributed acquisition stations allowing collaboration with remote partners. CONTENTdm also is designed for rich metadata development and searching across multiple collections.
