CONTENTdm Version 3.5 offers new collection delivery tools and a link to OCLC WorldCat, the world's largest bibliographic database
TORONTO, Ontario, June 21, 2003 --- DiMeMa Inc., creator of the leading digital collection management software, today announced the upcoming launch of the newest version of its CONTENTdm software, designed to make it easier to share digital collections with broader audiences.
Available July 25, CONTENTdm Version 3.5 provides an easy way for libraries to add their digital collections to WorldCat, the world's largest bibliographic database. In addition, CONTENTdm now offers new customization options for collection display templates and enables users to create, display, and search collections in languages other than English.
WorldCat Link
With a new link to OCLC WorldCat, CONTENTdm software offers unparalleled visibility for digital collections. CONTENTdm collections can now be registered with WorldCat, a database of more than 50 million records. WorldCat converts CONTENTdm collection descriptions into MARC records. Descriptive metadata for valuable, single copy special collection materials may be added as both individual items and as whole collections.
As a digital collection grows, new items are automatically added to WorldCat. The WorldCat records can also be downloaded to your local cataloging system and OPAC, so local users can also find your digital materials in a single search. For more information on the WorldCat-CONTENTdm connection, read the brochure (PDF 68KB) or download the PowerPoint presentation (1.8 MB) to step through harvesting examples.
Customizable Web Templates
For rapid implementation of collection display Web sites, CONTENTdm provides flexible templates that are ready out-of-the-box. Especially useful for organizations without Web development resources, users can tailor basic elements of the Web templates with minimal effort using the step-by-step instructions provided.
Multiple display options are provided for search results so users can display results in a way that best meets their needs. Options include titles only, thumbnails, a sortable grid of selected fields, and a descriptive or bibliographic display.

Language Support
Full search support is now offered for Latin-1 foreign language character sets. CONTENTdm Web Templates are customizable to support local language translation, allowing users to build non-English collections and multi-lingual sites.
CONTENTdm users with a current Annual Maintenance Agreement will automatically receive Version 3.5 in July.
