CONTENTdm Version 3.1 builds on Version 3.0 features and adds numerous additional enhancements.
CONTENTdm Version 3.1 builds on the features of Version 3.0, including improved full resolution image indexing, an enhanced HTML Client, and the Document Editor for handling of complex media items such as books, and two-sided objects.
New features in Version 3.1 include:
- Postcard view: Allows you to store and display two sides of a media
item. Specific examples include postcards, historical photos with annotations on the back, ticket stubs, and brochures.
Two-sided items are searchable like all other items in a collection and when a two-sided item is retrieved,
the user can access both the front and back images.
- Improved image handling: Provides faster production of thumbnail images and
significantly enhanced quality of access of Web images from TIFFs.
- Phrase searching in Client dictionary: Offers phrase searching in the Client dictionary (Browse Terms box). Phrases are those that have been identified in your controlled vocabulary. For example, "Narrows Bridge" will appear as an option if included in the metadata, resulting in a faster, more refined search effort.
- XML export from CONTENTdm: Facilitates export from CONTENTdm to the XML format allowing users to import CONTENTdm collection information to other programs.
- Descriptive thumbnails: Adds identifiers to thumbnail images for compound items describing the type of media object, for example, 'Document', 'Postcard', or 'Picture
Cube'.
These features complement CONTENTdm's powerful services for building, managing, and searching
