CONTENTdm Web Templates
Before making any changes to script or HTML files within the CONTENTdm Web Templates, make a back-up copy so that you can restore the original files if needed. Keep in mind that even simple text changes could alter the layout of your Web Templates. This documentation is not intended to take the place of having working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript files, or framesets. CONTENTdm Web Templates consist of HTML and JavaScript files that can be modified to create a custom Web site for your digital collections. This section describes what files to change in order to edit the CONTENTdm Web Templates. To change the text within Home (index.html), About (about.html), or Help (help.html) pages, you must edit HTML files that accompany the Web template files.
To change the appearance of the Templates, you must edit the script files. The script files define the Web page layout, color, font, etc. Experienced HTML developers can customize the existing templates, creating a different look for each collection on the server or use the same template for all collections. To change text within the Templates or to use a language other than English in the Web Templates (usually referred to as localization), a combination of both HTML and script files must be edited. For information on modifying specific script files, see
