Creating a Description for your Compound Objects

Metadata fields for documents, post cards, picture cubes, or monographs are the same as the metadata for individual items in your collection in that they provide the searchable material for accessing items in your collection. Compound object metadata describes the whole object rather than individual pages or images.

  1. To add metadata to the compound object, click on the Description tab in the Compound Object Creator window. The tab will be labeled according to the type of object created: Document Description, Monograph Description, Post Card Description, or Picture Cube Description.

  2. A form opens, similar to the one below. Add the metadata for the compound object. Fields shown in blue are searchable, while the fields in black cannot be searched. Title is a required field.

Refer to Adding Items to a Document or Adding Items to a Post Card for information on adding items to these types of compound objects.

See Picture Cube within the Online Help for more information on making this type of compound object and refer to Monograph for information on building a document that contains hierarchical structures, such as chapters, sections, and pages.
