Full Resolution Manager Settings and JPEG2000

The Full Resolution Manager establishes full resolution capability within a collection. For general information on working with the Full Resolution Manager see Archiving Full Resolution Images in the CONTENTdm Tutorials.

When using JPEG2000 file format for display images, some Full Resolution Manager settings will not be applied. Configuring the Full Resolution Manager for JPEG2000 display images is described below.

You must have Collection Administration rights to access the Full Resolution Manager.

  1. Open the Collection Administration console from your Web browser by entering http://your.server.address/cgi-bin/admin/start.exe in your Web browser address bar or your Acquisition Station project, open the Collection Administration console by clicking the Administration menu.

  2. Select Collection Administration.

  3. From the Collection Administration console, click Full Resolution Manager. The Full Resolution Manager opens.

  4. To enable a collection to support full resolution images, select Yes next to the question "Do you wish to index full resolution images as part of this collection?"

  5. Full Resolution Administration

  6. Define Volume Size by choosing a setting from the Volume Size pull down list. Digital copies of full resolution images imported into CONTENTdm are stored in volumes. Volumes can be transferred to a physical storage device or maintained in directories on network storage. When the maximum amount of data allowed in the specified volume size has been reached, a new volume will be created automatically.

  7. Default Display Image Size is not applied when using JPEG2000 display images. JPEG2000 display images retain the same pixel dimensions as the full resolution source image.

  8. Default Archive Image Size has no effect on images within CONTENTdm. This setting is a scanning guideline established by the Collection Administrator for reference by other Acquisition Station users who are working with the same collection.

  9. Define a Volume Name Prefix by entering a root name for your full resolution volumes. CONTENTdm automatically appends a number to your prefix. For example, if your prefix is Volume, a volume will be generated in the staging called Volume1. When there is no more space within the volume to store images, a new volume is generated automatically with the specified prefix: Volume2.

  10. Specify Public to make links to full resolution images or location information available to all Search Client users. (For information about storing archival images online see Step 3 of the tutorial Archiving Full Resolution Images.) Specify Private to make information about the location of the full resolution image available to the Collection Administrator only.

  11. Click update button Update.

  12. Close and reopen the Acquisition Station project in order for the changes to appear.
